Immaculate Original Paintings
"When someone looks at my paintings, I want
them to sense the heat, feel the dryness, taste the dust-I want them to
feel as if they are inside the painting-a part of it" - Garth Swift
Spending his formative years growing up on a farm in Zimbabwe and
attending boarding schools nutured Garth's independent and creative
instincts; very early in life, he knew he would play tennis, or be an
artist. On leaving school, he studied Fine Art in Durban, South Africa,
where students were encouraged to express themselves any way they saw fit.
He also discovered watercolour.
"His work can usually be
recognised by its incredible realism, wide vistas and sweeping panoramas
of the African landscape and although there has been some noticeable
change over the years, he has experimented with acrylic and pencils but
watercolour remains his favourite medium". WILDLIFE ART
MAGAZINE
After a few uninspiring jobs and very unsettled, Garth
travelled overseas for 4 years where he thrived occasionally dabbling in
painting and perfecting his craft. Returning to South
Africa, he now paints full-time and his work is sought after by hunters
and collectors worldwide.
"I paint from my heart, and if I
can bring something to life and help people appreciate it, maybe the
painting will go some way in preserving the wild places so that they will
always be with us".
